Title: Sr & Mid level Linux Systems Engineer 

Location: Boston, MA

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 3 months +

Rate: $50 - $70 hour on a w2 basis 

 

 Responsibilities

*          Build, scale, troubleshoot maintain service platform.

*          Manage all levels of service platform

*          Work with development team to enhance web service for optimal
performance

*          Write tools for scalability and automation of production
environment, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.

*          Monitor the health of production systems 

*          Be part of a 24x7 on-call pager rotation.   

 

 Qualifications   

*          Linux/Unix expert, Expert troubleshooter

*          Expert sysadmin., Experience scripting for systems automation
tasks 

*          Use of open-source tools to manage installations

*          Setting up, operating and scaling a large number of servers 

*          Configuration management, Monitoring/Alerting, Application
deployment, Server deployment, Systems Automation.

*          Work at all levels of the service platform (data
center/network/servers/application)

*          supporting and enhancing SOA / SaaS web application
architectures 

*          cfengine, nagios, cacti, kickstart/netboot, func.

*          CentOS, Java, Tomcat, Oracle, MySQL.

*          networking (BGP/OSPF).  

*          PHP, Perl, Python 

*          the Scrum framework

*          Large scale distributed storage systems.

*          Multi-site and/or multi-national infrastructure deployments
