SR. SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR - EMAIL SYSTEMS

Tufts currently seeks candidates for a Senior Systems Administrator – 
E-Mail Team.  Within the larger Information Technology Department, the 
University Systems Group ("USG") provides enterprise mail as well as 
systems support for web, identity, and research computing to the Tufts 
community. USG also provides Unix-based services of a more restricted, 
infrastructure-related scope.

The Senior Systems Administrator will be the primary systems and 
applications administrator for the Tufts enterprise email servers, 
supporting approximately 15,000 mailboxes. This position currently 
allocates tasks to one other system administrator. This individual must 
have an in-depth understanding of SMTP, IMAP, and other mail-related 
secure protocols and strong knowledge of SSL/TLS, LDAP, and DNS, a firm 
understanding of various mail clients (i.e., Thunderbird, Outlook, and 
Eudora) and how they interact with mail infrastructure.

The candidate should have a broad experience with many different 
architectures and enterprise experience is essential.  The successful 
candidate must possess a bachelors degree and five years of experience 
with senior level Unix system administration abilities (Solaris and 
Linux) and some background in clustering and storage design, planning 
and management.  Must have experience with large scale Unix mail system 
design/deployment/administration; Mail clients: Thunderbird, Outlook, 
Eudora and command-line. Languages needed: Perl, Shell and related 
others. Protocols: IMAP, SMTP, SSL/TLS, LDAP, and DNS. The candidate 
will possess strong communication and documentation skills, an ability 
to lift up to 30 lbs, and be available for periodic on-call duties.
