Job Title - Sr Unix Admin

Salary - $80,000 - $110,000

Location - Natick

 

Job Summary

This technical position within the Data Center Operations team is
responsible for systems administration and support of Linux and Unix
operating systems within the company.

 

Responsibilities

Develop procedures, proposals, plans, and guidelines for Linux system
configuration, deployment, and support. 

Provide technical solutions and guidance for internal customers and team
members in all aspects of Linux and Unix operating systems. 

Perform and assist internal customers and team members in resolving tier 2
and 3 Linux and Unix issues. 

Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the various Linux and Unix
operating systems, networking technologies, policies, procedures and best
practices; suggest ways to improve/expand upon the efficiency of Linux/Unix
operations. 

Install, configure, and support Linux/Unix workstations and servers; apply
patches; software and hardware upgrades. 

Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct
operational problems. 

Assist in the research, selection and implementation of Linux platforms
(e.g. Debian, SuSE)

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information
Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience 

7+ years technical system administrator experience 

Experience with managing medium to large infrastructures 

Project Management experience 

Excellent working knowledge of Linux, Unix, and Windows Operating Systems 

Excellent knowledge and application of commonly used Unix concepts,
practices, and procedures, including SAN, NAS & Volume Management, shell
scripting, PERL programming, C programming 

Excellent working knowledge of networking topology protocols and services
(i.e. TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, NFS, CIFS) 

Professional certifications in Linux/Unix system administration desirable 

Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills 

Customer focused with a dedication to customer satisfaction 

Excellent judgment and decision making skills 

Strong organizational skills 

Ability to work after hours, weekends and on-call as needed 

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal 

Strong initiative, self-motivation, ability to complete tasks on time 

Ability to handle multiple priorities 

Ability to identify and implement process improvement 

Demonstrates an understanding of user and host security concepts
