If you are tech savvy which I believe you are, I would recommend getting or borrowing Microsoft 2003 MCSE books by Microsoft Press, and installing Windows 2003 through VMware Virtual Server (it's free) and you can work on it hands on at your own pace.

Hi,

I'm looking for suggestions for someplace I can go to
get up to speed on Windows 2003/Xp administration.

My background is primarily Unix, but my employer
just fired our Windows/Lan admin, and I'm trying to
pick up some of the slack for the office, with help
from a more experienced Windows admin from our NJ
office. There'll be a replacement coming in
eventually, but it's occurred to them that it would
be a good thing to have some backup available for
whoever they bring in, in the long term too. So
they're suggesting I find someplace to pick up some
refresher training. The last Windows admin that I've
done was on NT 4.0.

They're not really worried about the cost of training,
but they would really like me to find something that
I can do evenings, rather than the standard 1 week
intensives that most places seem to offer. I've done
some preliminary looking around, but haven't come
up with anything. I'm hoping maybe someone here has
seen something along these lines.

An in-person course would be a preferable, but
on-line might work. I'm in southern NH, so ideally
I'd like to keep it no further south than Cambridge.

Thanks for your help,

Kathryn Smith

_______________________________________________
bblisa mailing list
