Hi Folks,
January's BBLISA meeting is this Wednesday, 14 January 2015 starting at
7:00 PM. Our speaker is Tom Limoncelli, best known for books like Time
Management for System Administrators (O'Reilly) and The Practice of System
and Network Administration (Addison-Wesley).
ABSTRACT:
During Wednesday's talk, Tom will highlight some of the most radical ideas
from the new book "The Practice of Cloud System Administration." The book
focuses on "distributed" or "cloud" computing and brings a DevOps/SRE
sensibility to the practice of system administration. Unsatisfied with
books that cover either design or operations in isolation, the authors
created this new reference centered around a comprehensive approach.
Some of the radical advice includes: improving uptime by using cheap
unreliable hardware, why you should crashing servers at random times, and
that you should make peace with outages.
(Note: Tom will *not* have books for sale at the talk, but he will sign
books you bring, even ones he didn't write. Ebook purchasers will receive a
sticker to put on their Kindle, though.)
LOCATION & TIME:

- Patrick
