Disagree.
In opensolaris, the kernel will only buffer maximum 30sec of writes, which
is a few G. It will also only buffer a maximum 50% of system memory ... so
at least 16G is advisable. The rest of the ram is used for cache to
accelerate reads. So the more memory the merrier.
