Back from the dead, it's a BBLISA meeting. According to my mail
archives, this will be the first presentation we've had since January
2008.
Unfortunately, I'll be out of town; but hope to hear all about it at
the September meeting.

Topic: Everything I Know About Sysadmin I Learned in the Back of an Ambulance

Description:

What can an EMT say about system administration? While the
consequences of failure between the two jobs is quite different, a
number of the skills are identical. In addition both jobs are often
crisis driven, can be quite noisy and are always surprising as you
deal with people and their problems. What principles and processes
can we learn from those who drive vehicles with flashing lights?
Join John as he presents some lessons learned, the hard way, on the
ambulance and discover what this can tell us about the principles we
use when maintaining our systems and networks.
