[BBLISA] Cluster fun

I disagree with the statement that it's possible to get black boxes for
half the price of Dells. My experience over the last couple of years
has been that Dell has brought the price down to the point where it's
really no cheaper to go with a white/black box. The ONLY reason these
days to go with a white/black box is if you have a very specific
configuration that Dell can't provide. Frankly, for 1 or 2U boxes, I
can't think of any such configuration.

I've used many times -
CTS computer 617 964 8927
Ctscomputer.com
And I'll say they're really good, if you want generic black boxes with
quality parts, to compare against dell servers for the sake of saving
money.
I'll say that for best reliability, you should use the dell servers,
with a
supported OS. (Don't buy an optiplex and expect to run linux on it.)
But
CTS was able to deliver 2x the black boxes for me that I would have
gotten
for the same $$ in Dells.
Depends on your needs. If you need the best reliability, I'll recommend
the
Dell. If you need the highest horsepower per dollar, I'll recommend
CTS.
Tell them you want to run RedHat (or whatever) and they'll test it for
you
to make sure it installs before shipping it.
