We used the Maxtors for backing up ISOs (for DR purposes) and ghost
images, and none lasted longer than 1yr.  We then switched to Western
Digital and they so far have lasted on average about 9 months.  These
are not hard hit disks either, they only get updated once a quarter, but
stay on and plugged in 24/7.
