[BBLISA] group file limitation

I was wondering if anyone knew of a nice way to get around this problem.
We need to add lots of people to a secondary group.  There seems to be
a limit on the length of a line in /etc/group (255).

It is not an option to make this the primary group, which would get
around this problem.  Does anyone have any idea about how to add lots
of people to a group (so many it will overflow that limit easily)?
