The Broad Research IT infrastructure comprises a 4000-core
computing
cluster, several hundred application and compute servers—both
physical
and virtual—and a NAS environment hosting more than 4PB of data.
Spanning three physical data centers, this infrastructure supports
an
active research community of more than 1000 people.<br>

</font><font face="Arial Unicode MS">SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II at the
Broad Institute to join the Research Computing Operations Team, to
help
maintain and deliver NAS resources (5PB and growing) to the
various
labs of the Institute. Act as a member of the team responsible for
the
provisioning, monitoring and reporting of storage utilization.
Ensure
the availability of data through the creation and use of
reproducible
systems management procedures and participate in the evaluation of
new
technologies. Assist with the development of data storage and
recovery
tier definitions and SLAs. Work with various user groups to help
create
and implement Information Lifecycle Management plans and attempt
space
forecasting. Serve as a member of the Research Computing group
with
responsibility for various IT platforms, hardware, infrastructure
and
security affecting the scientific research community of the Broad.

</font><font face="Arial Unicode MS">Requires a B.S. in computer
science or
related field. A minimum of five years professional experience as
a
Linux systems administrator. A productive knowledge of one or more
common scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash, TK, etc.) and
ability
to quickly master new tools and languages. Clear, professional
communication skills in order to work with team members and users
of
diverse technical abilities. Organized and detail oriented, able
to
track complex projects and systems among shifting priorities,
experience working with other common operating systems (Windows,
Mac
OS, Solaris) preferred. Experience with one or more of the
following
storage platforms and technologies preferred: NetApp, ZFS, NFS,
CIFS,
EMC, DDN, Isilon, Acopia.<br>
