support team and is specifically focused on supporting the MS Windows
environments and associated applications used in research. <br>
<br>
The position encompasses the following responsibilities: </span></font></p>

Supporting scientists in use of applications by ensuring updates are performed,
solving functional problems with the applications in a timely matter, and
heeding the priorities of the user community. </span></font></p>

10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:black'><br>
Supporting application development teams in establishing requirements for
development, test, staging and production application and database
environments. Coordinate creation of environments. </span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 color=black face=Arial><span style='font-size:
10.0pt;font-family:Arial;color:black'><br>
Installing applications according to established standards and processes to
enable execution on MS Windows servers and workstations. </span></font></p>

Analyzing and troubleshooting problems encountered by scientists related to
vendor and custom software applications used in their research projects. </span></font></p>

Coordinating with vendor support and appropriate IT groups to solve problems in
the production environment. </span></font></p>

Coordinating with other members of the support team and the user community to
ensure successful completion of application evaluation projects and application
upgrades </span></font></p>

Coordinating with application development teams to gather requirements and
recommend the optimal configuration for application servers and storage. </span></font></p>

Creating realistic testing scenarios and scripts to use before and after
equipment and software version upgrades </span></font></p>

Following required procedures to coordinate with IT on issues, installations,
upgrades and purchases. </span></font></p>

Participating in the creation of system and support documentation for supported
applications and applicable support processes </span></font></p>

Maintaining all required license, application and infrastructure documentation
and records. <br>

Job Requirements: <br>
5 years as an administrator of applications in a Windows environment.<br>
2 to 3 years experience in a customer/application support role in a research,
academic, or engineering environment.<br>
Knowledge of one or more J2EE deployment environments such as Jboss or
Weblogic. <br>
Working knowledge of Oracle, SCM principles and applications; back up
strategies; and file storage appliances. <br>
Excellent communications and customer service skills.<br>
Proven problem solving/troubleshooting skills.<br>
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and technologies associated with
installation, maintenance, and integration of servers and client/applications
in an enterprise environment. <br>

Preference for working in a collaborative, team environment.<br>
Ability to work independently and with little supervision.<br>
Proven trouble shooting and decision making skills.</span></font></p>
