advanced fluids simulation software for Computer Aided Engineering (CAE)
product engineering.   Exa has a diverse and powerful computational
environment with a private cloud including hundreds of high-end Linux-based
servers, clusters and desktop workstations, and PCs running Windows in
locations around the world. We are seeking an additional Senior Systems
Administrator to work in our team in this fast paced, commercial scientific
and high performance computing (HPC) environment.  

The IT team at Exa’s Burlington world headquarters is responsible for
coordinating IT Operations for all global offices (Americas, Europe, Asia)
including management of VPNs linking all sites.  The IT team plays an active
role in configuring and monitoring these systems.  This is an excellent
opportunity for a motivated Systems Administrator to showcase his/her talent
and develop additional cutting edge skills across a broad range of
technologies.

Position Profile:

As part of the IT Team, you will contribute to the planning, support, and
administration of all of Exa Corporation's global computing, LAN/WAN
networking, and communications services. Responsibilities include: account
creation and security, creation of automation scripts to maintain uniformity
of system configuration, maintenance of company information systems
including web server, email server, SQL Server, DNS and NIS, system
configuration, and file system maintenance and backup . Operating systems
include Linux, UNIX (Solaris, HP-UX, AIX), Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X.
The position involves close interaction with sophisticated technical users
to support their changing requirements and to answer their application and
operation questions. Security, particularly with regard to customer data, is
a key element of this position.

The successful candidate must be talented, enthusiastic and creative with
good people skills and task management abilities.  Effective interactions
with physicists, validation engineers and software developers are required. 

Education and Experience:
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of related experience. 
• US Citizenship required.

Requirements:
• Detailed knowledge of SMTP, DNS, Apache, Samba, NFS, NIS, Anti-virus &
Anti-spam solutions.
• Strong independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work successfully with all stakeholders across the
organization.
• Ability to understand customer concerns, take ownership and resolve issues
in a timely and effective manner.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn new technologies, particularly with
regard to cutting-edge approaches in High Performance Computing (HPC).
• Willingness to travel 5-10% (US/International) after ~ 1 year  training.
• Solid English verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience supporting both Windows and Linux, including for
interoperability.

Skills & Experience:
Knowledge and experience with a variety of the following is desirable:
• Task Automation (e.g. Bash/CSH, Python, Perl, etc.) 
• Directory Services (LDAP, Active Directory, etc.)
• Deployment Services (xCAT, Spacewalk, Puppet, Cfengine, etc.)
• Queuing Systems (Sun Grid Engine, PBS, LSF, etc.) 
• High Speed Interconnects (Infiniband, 10 GbE, etc.)
• Security & Availability (Snort, OpenNMS, Nagios, Ganglia, etc.)
• SANs & Clustered Storage (GPFS, Lustre, etc.)
• Communications Technologies (Zimbra, Exchange, SOGo, Jabber, etc.)
• Data Security Technologies (PGP, GnuPG, Drive Encryption, Sophos, etc.)
• Backups & Disaster Recovery
• Web/Cloud Technologies
Optional Skills:
These skills are considered a plus:
• Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
• Additional foreign language proficiency
