The QA Manager is senior position that will be responsible for leading the Online Buddies QA team in day-to-day quality assurance and quality control of our market leading social network applications. This would include high volume, high availability websites and multi-platform (native Android, iPhone and mobile browser) mobile companion applications.

The role will report to the CTO and be responsible for managing and leading a small team of QA and test automation engineers. The successful candidate will be someone that has current experience in modern QA practices - not just 'old-school' test plan development and black box testing. The ideal candidate would have experience in testing applications for high volume, high availability commercial websites.

Must be able to lead the team in efficient day-to-day operation and support, as well as drive ongoing quarterly QA testing improvement initiatives. These would include such things as regular advancement of automated test coverage, development of team members for white box/direct database testing among other projects.

Will need to work collaboratively with Product Management, Product Development, Systems Engineering and Project Managers as part of regular testing cycles associated with our Agile development and release process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 *   Work under the high level direction of the CTO to own the assessment of the overall quality, stability and performance of the Online Buddies application suite (Manhunt website and mobile applications).
 *   Lead the team in the execution and overall product quality (functional, performance and stability) as well as quality elements of code migration/deployments and delivery.
 *   Lead the team in the development and optimization of test strategies (particularly for mobile applications), test plans, test cases, test automation from QA through production deployment phases. Focus test automation on continual functional test suite development (Selenium) and performance baseline testing (via Loadrunner).
 *   Provide oversight and leadership of all QA long-term improvement initiatives as it relates to continuous improvement of testing coverage and quality control process. This also includes managing and driving quality control for code deployment across different environments, from Development, QA, Staging and Production environments.
 *   Participate in sprint planning with Project and Product Management and Development to appropriate size sprint backlog work items.
 *   Serve as the main perfective to offer the Project manager and CTO a viewpoint of overall risk levels associated with any release candidate. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and follow through on any risk mitigation strategies.
 *   Lead, mentor and develop engineers in the QA team.
 *   Be available on rare occasions off hours (nights/weekends) in support of any production P1 resolution process.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

 *   BS or BA degree required, MS a plus in computer science or related technical field or business (MBA).
GENERAL TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 *   10 years + of experience in quality assurance or quality control discipline. Desired experience working in an e-Commerce and/or social networking web sites.
 *   Have broad operation data center operations background combined with quality, continuous improvement, high scale/high availability
 *   Have a hands-on working knowledge of common QA best practices for functional, scalable and performance based factors and latest quality control and test automation practices.
 *   Must display a solid track record or leading technical teams in support of quality initiatives. Looking for proven experience to serve as "player-coach" to lead and develop technical teams to higher levels of performance.
 *   Experience with web based applications - with technology experience with LAMP stack as well as Java based applications.
 *   Be familiar with Agile development process and rapid (2 week) release cycles.  Ability to be flexible and adapt to any given situation
 *   Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills. Must have strong analytical and data driven problem-solving skills
 *   Have previous management experience to lead, mentor and develop technical team members. Be able to build solid team performance through sound people leadership skills.
 *   Basic understanding of the principles and best practices of software development process and software quality principals. Strong benefit to have experience with Agile based development.
 *   Ability to work under pressure and in high stress situations with a calm demeanor
 *   Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of deployments or in support of on-call escalations of production issues.
