Description:
Working closely with development, the focus of this position is to
provide database management and support to a team of developers
focused on the continued development of our web-based software.
Additional responsibilities to include supporting and troubleshooting
production applications and infrastructure, ETL development and
data-integration process management, and development of reports for
internal stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communications are a
must. Our environment is dynamic, fast-paced and challenging.
Skills:
· 3-5+ years experience directly supporting at least one of
the following commercial RDBMS in a production and development
environment: Oracle 10/11, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2
· 2+ years experience directly supporting MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
· Expert understanding of database backup/recovery procedures,
database cloning, performance tuning, security, replication, data
warehouses
· Familiarity with high-availability database concepts like
Clustering and Multi-Master Replication
· Expert understanding of Relational theory as it applies to
data modeling and database design. Familiarity with data modeling
tools, ERD diagrams, etc.
· Experience with more than one of the following: Unix Shells,
Perl, PL-SQL, Transact-SQL
· 3+ years experience writing and tuning advanced SQL, Stored
Procedures, Functions, etc.
· Experience with at least one ETL tool, such as Informatica,
Pentaho, JasperETL
· Familiarity with one or more of the following: PHP, Java, Python.
· Understanding of web development practices and technology,
including concepts such as Memcached, ORM’s and Frameworks, etc. and
their impact on the database.
· Experience using SCM software like Subversion, CVS
· High degree of comfort working with Linux or Unix OS
· Excellent problem-solving, analytical and diagnostic skills.
· Able to work closely with Development staff in the design
and delivery of data-driven web solutions.
