Walchem Corporation has become a leading manufacturer and supplier of
on-line analytical instruments and electronic metering pumps over the
last 25 years.   We are located off Route 16 in Holliston, MA.
 
We are recruiting for a (very) part-time Sr. Linux IT Administrator on a
contract basis.  The tricky part is this would be an ongoing need for
about 4-8 hours/month.  
 
The following is a brief job description:
 
Systems for data security and integrity: 
   Initial analysis, recommendations, and implementation of backup and
security scheme for existing Linux server. 

   Supply recommendations for proactive ongoing maintenance.

   Possibility for ongoing scheduled proactive maintenance contract
according to agreed upon schedule:

         Reviewing error logs
         Reviewing security updates and applying as necessary
         Verifying statuses of all critical services
         Verifying back system is working

         Provide written report on activities including any
recommendations for changes to the systems.

The candidate should posses the following skills: 
- Knowledge of Linux Servers (Ubuntu 6.06 using kernel version 2.6.15) 
       - Setup and administration of a backup system (tape) 
       - Security administration 
- Knowledge of Apache 
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) 
Knowledge of MySQL, Bugzilla, and Subversion a plus
