Summary:

This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining our all
aspects of strategy surrounding Unix technologies.  This individual is also
responsible for architecture and delivery of key Unix systems and applicable
processes.  This includes planning, analysis, design, development,
implementation, documentation, and reporting associated with these systems
and their surrounding processes.

This individual will be responsible for leading and/or participating in
multiple projects and the demonstrated ability to work in a past-paced
environment is necessary.  This individual must be able to successfully
function in an environment where quality and efficiency are expected.

 

Job Responsibilities:

. Development and execution of global Unix computing platform strategy

o This service includes Unix operating systems (Tru64 Unix, HP/UX, and AIX),
server hardware (HP Alpha, HP Integrity, IBM System p), and server
management and provisioning technologies.

. Development and execution of Capacity Management plan for global Unix
environment

. Provide in-depth technical and design expertise in support of large,
complex enterprise projects.

o Lead projects using standard project management methodologies to implement
these solutions

. Work in tandem with high-caliber technical staff to deliver solutions.

. Assess and recommend architectural designs/changes to existing systems.

. Management of third-party contractors in pursuit of deliverables
associated with design and implementation.

. Subject matter expert for specific technologies

o HP Tru64 Unix 5.1a and 5.1b

o HP/UX 11i v1 and v2

o HP Server Hardware (both Alpha and Integrity)

o IBM System p hardware

. Tier 4 Support of enterprise Unix environment.

. ITIL - SLA development, setting and measuring KPIs, process engineering

. Authoring and presentation of senior level management reports

 

Qualifications:

. Ability to coordinate activities, leveraging multiple resources, in order
to meet complex project deliverables

. Ability to leverage vendors and other third parties to achieve objectives.

. Ability to lead teams in the design and deployment of Unix technologies.

. Demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations to a non-IT
business audience.

. 10-15 years experience with server applications in a Unix environment

. Bachelor's degree in systems or computer science or equivalent work
experience.

. HP certified or equivalent work experience working on Tru64 Unix and HP/UX

. Requires knowledge of and demonstrated in-depth experience in:

o Unix Operating System configuration and administration

o Unix server hardware setup and configuration

o Server management tools - especially HP Systems Insight Manager

o Server provisioning tools - especially Ignite-UX

o Server based performance tuning and capacity planning

o Complex problem troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

o ITIL

. Knowledge of / experience with the following ancillary technologies

o SAN - HP Storageworks preferred

o Enterprise Backup - Netbackup preferred

o Networking - Cisco preferred

o Server Hardware Monitoring - HP Systems Insight Manager preferred

o Windows Active Directory - authentication integration

o Windows Active Directory DNS

. Candidate must possess excellent oral, and written communications skills,
to include writing/editing of technical documentation for international
audiences; effective presentation skills

. Ability to communicate well with clients within the organization and
management teams utilizing strong presentation skills combined with solid
technical background

. Ideal candidate will have strong understanding of future industry trends
in technology

. Able to conceive and articulate vision and architecture to technical and
business audiences

. Experience in providing technical leadership, guidance, and training
