SENIOR UNIX (AIX) SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

Job Description
A senior AIX systems administrator with experience managing the
infrastructure for client/server and web-based applications.

This is a full-time (35 hours/week), 4 month contract position starting
in early November, 2006.

Responsibilities include: all aspects of AIX system administration in
support of mission critical business applications including: daily
system management, disk management, problem resolution, performance
tuning and capacity planning, security, backup and recovery; operating
system maintenance and upgrades, and the integration of new services and
products to meet application and DBA requirements.

Must possess strong problem solving, analytical, and communication
skills.  Ability to interact effectively with people at all levels
within the university is essential, as is the ability to work both
independently and in groups.

The following experience is required:
- 3 plus years experience in AIX systems administration supporting
  client server and web-based applications in a multi-platform production
  environment.
- Experience with AIX 5.2 and AIX 5.3
- Experience supporting web, application and database servers
- AIX Logical volume management experience
- Experience with commercial and/or open SSH
- Shell scripting experience

Knowledge of the following is a big plus:
- PeopleSoft HRMS and Financials, BSR, Oracle and Legato
- NIM
- AIX Virtualization, LPARs, VIOS and HMC
- SDD in a SAN environment
