SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER, Information Services and Technology, to work as a
member of an elite team responsible for the MITnet infrastructure--a state
of the art network with over 30K nodes and over 2K routers--supporting
MIT's preeminent teaching, learning, and research environment. Will be
responsible for the Domain Name Service, Kerberos service, Web service,
e-mail service (mail forwarding, post office mail storage, SPAM filtering),
MIT's on-line calendaring facility, as well as other network services. Will
be technical lead on projects and provide technical guidance to other IT
staff across MIT.

REQUIREMENTS: a minimum of five years of network/network services
experience in large, complex environments; a track record of technical
innovation; ability to program in C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, and SQL; and
in-depth expertise in sendmail, BIND, Cyrus, Apache, and Kerberos software
systems running under Linux and Solaris. Must be familiar with Cisco's IOS
operating system as well as with hardware debugging and replacement.
Familiarity with MacOS and Windows a plus. Must be able to work directly
and communicate effectively with customers (faculty, staff, and students),
assessing their needs and analyzing and resolving their problems. Ability
