I am the hiring manager seeking a talented mid-level Unix Admin.  We are a
well-established software company that uses most Linux/Unix platforms in our
development process, as well as on our own production systems.  We need
someone who is invigorated by the challenges inherent to our multi-platform
environment.  The requirements are:

 

*	Strong knowledge of hardware and software configuration 
*	In-depth knowledge of at least two of the following: Linux, AIX,
HP/UX, Tru64, Solaris
*	Comfort with DNS, sendmail/postfix, NIS, and general Unix
administration, including user configuration, package installation, kernel
tuning, http server configuration
*	Some experience with MS Windows administration desirable
*	Some shell scripting experience.  Need to be able to write simple
scripts and maintain existing ones.
*	Desirable: Netapp, Checkpoint firewall, Veritas
*	Great customer service mentality, paired with a strong drive to get
things done.  

 

We have a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.  You would be working with
myself and two Unix Admins.  his position best suits someone who loves to
learn, enjoys getting their hands on the hardware as well as software side
of things, and can change gears as the priorities shift.  If you are most
comfortable in a controlled environment where you always know what you will
be doing each day and where maintaining is the main goal, this would not be
the place for you.  If you want to do a little bit of everything and be a
crucial part of our development process, this is the position for you.
