Job Title - Unix Admin

Salary - $45,000 - $75,000

Location - Concord NH

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Create, monitor, and manage, highly available and secure UNIX environments
utilizing a strong working knowledge of HP-UX / Solaris UNIX operating
systems. 

Implement and utilize tools to monitor and measure the performance of HP /
Sun servers. Analyze statistics and recommend appropriate solutions to
enhance system performance. 

Perform system backups using HP Data protector. Maintain a proper tape
library. Verify integrity of system back up by performing periodic restores
of data. 

Manage the security and support functions for all UNIX based servers.
Monitor, and analyze security logs for anomalous behavior. 

Monitor data network performance, including Cisco switches and Pix
firewalls, and make recommendations for enhanced system performance. 

Evaluate new technologies relating to HP-UX / Solaris, UNIX and make
recommendations to enhance system performance. 

Schedule, coordinate and participate in annual disaster recovery
simulations. Maintain proper documentation for disaster recovery process
related to UNIX systems. 

Interact with clients in delivery of service 

Plan and prioritize tasks for multiple, simultaneous projects 

Develop and maintain administration procedures, and guidelines 

Responsible for providing after-hours support 

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational
workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal
networks; participating in professional societies; participates in internal
and external meetings and seminars. 

Performs various tasks and related duties, as needed, to meet division and
corporate goals. 

Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information
confidential. 

Maintains intradepartmental and interdepartmental workflow by fostering a
spirit of cooperation. 

Actively supports the Guarantee Of Service Excellence program directly, or
by supporting teammates and the company in GOSE related duties and
activities. 

Interacts with clients, coworkers, and management in positive, supportive,
and cooperative ways. 

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. 

 

Job Specifications:

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Computer Science or related field plus at
least four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of
training, experience, and/or education. 

Must provide excellent customer service. 

Must have excellent communication skills and be able to receive and dispense
information in person or over the telephone. 

Must be attentive to detail and produce an accurate work product. 

Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and
meet deadlines effectively. 

Must be able to work with minimal supervision both independently and in a
team setting. 

Must be able to keep information confidential and protect the privacy of
applicants, employees, and customers, as appropriate, or as outlined by
federal and state law and corporate guidelines. 

Must have a valid driver's license. 

DNS and SNMP Monitoring 

Experience with Brocade fiber SAN switches desired 

Knowledge of Cisco router, switches, and PIX firewalls desired
