We are seeking a dynamic team player to fulfill a senior systems
administrator role for our ASP / application hosting environment. This
complex environment includes three data centers and multiple database
deployments, both clustered and non-clustered. Your primary
responsibility is to maintain and optimize the platforms (physical
hardware, operating systems, and SAN technology) hosting various
versions of Oracle database. You will work closely with the DBA team
to implement new database servers and troubleshoot performance issues.
You will also assist in the replication of SAN stored data to remote
data centers via private DS3 connections.
You should have solid troubleshooting skills, be a quick learner/self
starter, and be able to juggle and prioritize several tasks at once in a
fast-paced environment.
Your responsibilities:
* Installation and implementation of all systems in our remote data center.
* Support mission critical production of Unix, Windows, and Linux
systems; perform routine system administration functions including OS
tuning, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and system upgrades.
* Evaluate, recommend, and implement production enhancements including
centralized storage and backup systems.
* Work with application developers, systems engineering, and database
administrators to ensure optimal performance of production systems.
* Work with the data center networking and facilities group to resolve
network related issues.
* Planning and implementing security processes/procedures and performing
security audits for Unix, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 servers within
the Data Center.
Experience and Skills:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or
equivalent experience.
* Excellent writing, communication, and time management skills
* Good customer service skills
*Mentoring skills
*Previous experience managing and tracking billable projects using time
tracking software.
* 3 - 5 years experience in the following areas:
Operating System Skills

* Sun Solaris operating system
* AIX Operating Systems
* Windows operating systems
* Linux operating systems
Clustering with Solaris and AIX

* Veritas Clustering Software
* Veritas volume manager
Backup and Disaster Recovery

* Skilled with Disk to Disk to Tape technologies
