Hi all,
I have recently joined the Broad Institute (http://www.broad.mit.edu/)
to build a kind of internal consulting group (called "Application &
Production Systems") whose charge is to serve as an effective interface
between the Core Systems team and the various groups doing production
informatics software and database development.
I am looking for help.
This is a great opportunity for someone with deep technical skills and
an active interest in large-scale scientific research. The environment
is an exciting combination of production (several labs run 7 days/week,
some 24 hours/day) and research. On the IT side, we're largely a Linux
house, with smatterings of Solaris, Tru64, Windows, and MacOS, with a
reasonably extensive data infrastructure (presently ~600TB in a
combination of network-attached and SAN), and many of the expected
features of a research IT environment (myriad Oracle databases, compute
farms, and so on).
The position is officially called Senior System Administrator, and is
described here:
http://sh.webhire.com/servlet/av/jd?ai=631&ji=1833482&sn=I. But this is
much an architectural consulting role than it is an operational one. The
position will work closely with the Genetics Analysis Platform at the
Broad, one of the largest and most active scientific development groups,
on all aspects of development and rapidly scaling production touching
the core IT infrastructure. (If you are more interested in the core
infrastructure side than the informatics support side, we also have a
senior-level opening on the core team, described here:
http://sh.webhire.com/servlet/av/jd?ai=631&ji=1840980&sn=I.)
Please feel free to pass this along to anyone who might be interested,
and to contact me directly with any questions about the positions.
Cheers,
matter
