NETWORK APPLICATIONS PROGRAMMER ANALYST, Information Services and
Technology, to join a team managing the operational aspects of student
information system applications running on UNIX platforms with a focus on
quality of service. Environment consists of about 50 Linux (RedHat) and
Solaris servers running web servers (Apache, Netscape), web application
servers (WebLogic, Oracle), databases (Oracle), etc., in development, test,
and production. Will operate as an expert resource in implementing
scheduled project deployments of software components to Student Information
System platforms and monitoring results; manage the resolution of
unscheduled requests or outages; and work closely with other UNIX
administrators (e.g., those doing OS installs/upgrades/backups/patches),
software developers, DBAs, and project managers on the detailed
implementation of deployment and monitoring tasks.
REQUIREMENTS: three-plus years of experience administering production
environments, including system monitoring and maintenance, process
automation, process improvement, and proactive capacity planning. RedHat
Linux, Solaris, or Tru64 systems administration experience required.
OpenVMS, Java/J2EE/Struts, Oracle, Hyperion experience a plus. Must have
experience working with development teams in support of users. Should
possess strong analytical/troubleshooting skills and demonstrated ability
to efficiently and quickly diagnose and resolve infrastructure
problems--including systems security and account administration--while
working with a diverse group of users and technical personnel. Excellent
communication skills needed. Demonstrated ability to standardize, document,
and publicize support processes as part of an extensive history of user
support experience expected. Must be proactive and able to work
independently with minimal supervision while handling multiple tasks and
changing priorities. Higher education experience a plus. Will not be
